Suspected gas leak
A suspected gas leak is a serious safety issue
- Leave the building.
- Call 000 if there is immediate danger.
- Report the leak to your gas distributor’s emergency line — for most of Sydney that is Jemena on 131 909. This is the distributor, not your gas retailer.
- Then contact a licensed gasfitter for repairs.
Only turn the gas off at the meter, open doors or windows, or operate any equipment if it is safe to do so. Do not attempt to find the source of the leak, test for it yourself, or carry out any repair — gas leak repairs must be done by a licensed gasfitter.

Check the supply
The meter, regulator and existing pipe sizing are checked against the appliances being connected so the supply can actually carry the load.

Run and connect
New gas lines are run and appliances are connected, with isolation provided so the appliance can be shut down without killing gas to the whole property.

Test and commission
The installation is pressure tested, appliances are commissioned and any fault found during testing is rectified before the gas is left on.

Document where required
Required gas compliance documentation is issued where applicable to the gasfitting work, so you have records for yourself, your builder or your property manager.

What should I do if I smell gas?

Do you work on both natural gas and LPG?
Yes. We work on natural gas and LPG, including appliance connections, new gas lines and repairs. The work is carried out by a licensed gasfitter either way.
Can you connect a new cooktop or heater?
Yes. Appliance connections are standard gasfitting work. The existing supply and pipe sizing are checked first so the appliance is connected to a supply that can carry it.
Do I get paperwork when the work is finished?
Yes. Required gas compliance documentation is issued where applicable to the gasfitting work carried out, so you have a record for yourself, your builder or your property manager.
Can a gas line be upgraded without replacing everything?
Often it can. The supply is assessed first — in some cases a section of pipework is upsized, in others a longer run needs replacing. That is explained before any work starts.
